The sound of Kate's and Cindy's voices together is one of the most beautiful sounds in the universe. Tears in my eyes.

I'm 60 now and remember this song when it came out. I know why many cry when hearing this. It's a part of us remembering when we were young and life was much more simple then without a care in the world. And listening to this captures those memories and feelings because we live them. Many we knew back then are gone now. So I'm grateful to have those experiences. Because in the end the only thing we take with us when we leave this world is what is inside. Our experience as soul. Thanks for the post!

Im 61, and from highschool was a fan, when i was a senior, i transferred to South Sumter Highschool, so i could stay with my Grandad (Gran had a bad stroke, and we didn't want him by himself all the time) so there i was, with my weird clothes and my wierd 80s hair, in Bushnell, Florida. A town where the guys had those "rings" in their back pockets from cans of 'dip, ' rifles in their trucks, alone, and bored. One night i was walking around the silent town, and got in a phone booth to call Grandad for a ride home. Just as i was about to call, a friendly acquaintance, Randy Norman, (Randy! Are you out there?) drove up in his yellow Pinto, and was blaring "Rock Lobster" from two giant (home) speakers in his back seat! I was saved, and had no idea he liked that stuff! Thanks again for the life preserver, i hope youre out there, well and happy! A few days later i found out he was a hell of a guitar player, we went into a music store, he picked up a red Stratocaster, plugged it in and played a near perfect "my best friends girlfriend" by the cars. This all happened in 1981

Yeah for some reason this song got me emotional but it wasn't remembering my youth but to me I was sad that Ricky was gone due to AIDS and him not being there and just thinking of the times he missed from no longer being with us.

The 80's. No internet. No social media like Facebook, youtube, instagram, twitter, tiktok, etc. No smartphones. But people were enjoying and having the time of their lives!

Their music still holds up like a diamond after all these years.

This never fails to bring tears. So sweetly melancholy and hauntingly beautiful. The music, the girl's melody and Fred's counterpoint all blend to perfection. Now I'm going to sit and play this again and remember long gone friends.

I'm a so-so B52s fan, but I could listen to Cindy and Kate sing the phone book. Love their voices paired together.

Saw the group in the summer of 1990. The world was at peace, the Cold War was over. I was in college with a bunch of friends and we partied a lot without a care in the world and me and Mary C went to this show, with Ziggy Marley as the opening act. RIP Mary.

I was 17 when this came out and pretty new to The B-52s. This song hit my soul in a way I can’t even explain. I knew instantly that this song was special. It’s summer 2020, I’m now 48 and still feeling the magic.
