Injecting EPO and performing Blood Doping are the two main doping methods seen in endurance performance. Both of which featured heavily in the Lance Armstrong saga and with the recent release of the Armstrong 30for30 documentary, it's the perfect time to understand how EPO and Blood Doping actually improve performance.

Couldn’t have explained it better in the 10 mins. Superb man, you have a knack for this.

Haven't see the doco, but I saw The Program. To pass the epo test, they basically hooked him him up to an IV and forced fluid back into his body by squeezing the bag to get a desired reading. The test was basically measuring the ratio of fluid to red blood cells.

Who were the first sports endurance athletes to be caught for EPO ? Carl Lewis ? 1986 maybe. Does it cost a lot in America for EPO ? Fascinating stuff 👍🇬🇧

Just got my first shot for red blood cells. Why? Kidney failure

I knew a bodybuilder who was a steroid and PED dealer in Qld to all athletes from all sports. Absolutely all professional athletes are on something and most are on everything. Anyone can call up a peptide clinic in Qld from anywhere in Oz and get a prescription from a doc they never met for bioidentical testosterone and growth hormone neither of which can be detected. Exogenous test will also raise haematocrit and stop big volume from depleting you testosterone. Women are permitted by the IOC to have 10x the test of any normal woman so records are broken. Otherwise nobody will watch sport. An Aussie swimmer interviewed on tv with cystic acne on her chest and shoulders? Clearly, right in the middle of a massive steroid cycle. It's pretty obvious to the trained eye.

Nick, I saw an interview with one of the USPS cyclists who admitted to doping, and he talked about a situation where he "got a bad blood bag" and it made him really sick. Can you explain how BLOOD BAGS fit into this equation? Was that HIS blood?

Synthetic EPO is also far more effective than any altitude training as well. No amount of altitude training can duplicate the regimen of EPO injections that USPS teams and other since Miguel Indurain in 1990 were taking.

Nice t shirt. I enjoy stripes. Was Lance your favourite cyclist, or do you prefer Cadel Evans given he isn’t a dope?

2:31 ridiculous hyperbole. No way I can agree with that. I’m pretty confident if you actually think about what you’ve said that you don’t even agree with it. These people still have to train like crazy and give it their everything to win.

All the doping scandals ruins the sport for the next generation. Kids needs clean athletes to look up to and emulate. I got put off as a child after Bjarne Riis was caught. But it's hard to keep pro sports clean that requires 99% fitness and 0.5% skill.
