I’m a neuro RN and worked in a very high-stress environment.
My nurse manager is from Sweden 🇸🇪
She introduced us, on our unit, to Fika.
It wasn’t mandatory, but encouraged, and no one said no.

I’d like, if you please, cinnamon roll and, on Saturdays, Princesstårten (?sp.)

Another fun video! I often wish I lived in Sweden when I hear about things like Fika!

As for ideas for videos: how about a Christmas video? I think Swedish Christmas customs are different from ours in the U.S.

Also, what about Swedish culture in terms of families, marriage, children, etc. I hear that Swedes make the best husbands because they do housework, cooking and helping with the children. Is that right?

How about women in political life? Do you have a lot of those?

What are some embarrassing situations for Swedes? What is lagom?

What are some Swedish movies or TV series that we might enjoy and how can we find them?

We have this thing in Finland too! We just don't have a special name for it. We say "let's go for a coffee (mennään kahville)" but it is ablolutely more of a social thing!

It's hard for Americans to take a break and realize that the social aspect is just as important as the business meetings. It's when people get to know you as a person and if they want to invest more in you.

I knew already what technically fika was (a coffe and a biscuit) but I didn't knew the social side of it. Thanks for a good explanation. Yes, having a fika is a good habit - otherwise one may get burnt out with hard work pretty fast. Cheers! :)

Thank you for that explanation. You are so cute lol. I want to move to Sweden tomorrow. Americans are worked to death for as little pay as possible and we are legally supposed to get a break and get lunch but some bosses will push you through your break. It's definitely not the same here which explains the burn out by American compared to Swedes. I love do many things about the Swedish culture. They value so much more than our culture does.

I've read that "Fika" is also used to refer to a moment to slow down and apreciatte the good things in life, is this true?
