another trick for making sure the selection includes going under part of your line art is clicking select>expand selection and you only need a few pixels and it will prevent any random pieces of color from under neath showing if you want that it also helps close some of those gaps early on lol

i've only just started holding the paint bucket down and moving the cursor, which will automatically fill everything you're pointing at. compared to individually clicking section by section.
and you've given even MORE ways to save time, thank you so much!

i haven't realised how much i made life so much more complicated than it should be haha

the first 8 seconds of this video is basically me everytime I'm coloring after doing line art.
i didn't even knew what most of the settings for the paint bucket tool did, thank you for this video!
It'll definitely speed up my process and make things more fun

buddy did you not know about the "clip to layer" setting :0 i hope not cause im gonna blow your mind right now (otherwise this is a quick tip for anyone who doesnt know) in the layers window left of he set as reference setting is an icon of two boxes overlapping (clip to layer below) so after you have a good fill, (1:40) make a layer for flats above the fill but below the line art. then set it to clip to layer below this functions like a reverse mask layer now and only pixels that overlap on the fill layer will be visible. you can think of it like the "lock transparent pixels" setting but on a separate layer take out your big boy brush (mines called uncle fill) and go to town you wont be able to go outside the lines. the best part is you can stack clipped layers which makes flats super easy (it will always refer to the bottom layer)
if you wanna clean it up a bit you can use the magic wand tool set the subtool settings to refer to all and click the empty space and delete it erasing the invisible pixels and leaving a perfect flat. or don't. it wont matter when/if you flatten the image the program will auto delete any transparent pixels anyway

Dude, the close gap setting has confused me for years that I just lasso'd or manually painted cause I was in art mode and wanted to work on the painting instead of figuring the settings out. This finally made it click for me. Thank you!

I'm a newb, I find that it's easier to deal with spillover than using a mask, because if the selected area isn't perfect when you use mask, it then beats the purpose.

One trick that I noticed in speed art vids is that you can paint around the area you want to color, then fill the remaining area with the Paint Bucket Tool.

What about places where colors border each other through lines?
When trying to use the tool Paint unfilled area, the color appears on the back side of the line

In theory, this can be hidden by the top layer, but the top layer may also have places where it is necessary to fill the voids on the border, and then the previous layer overlaps where it is not needed.

Any ideas?:(
