William Carey - Father of Modern Missions

The shoemaker who pioneered modern missions. William Carey has been called the greatest Christian visionary and scholar of the 19th century. With no academic education, he taught himself more than 20 languages, translated the Bible into 43 Asian languages and dialects, became a distinguished botanist, and laid the foundation for the modern Protestant Mission's Movement.
Three of Carey's strong-willed sons Felix, Jabez, and William became missionaries - Felix to Burma, Jabez to the Moluccas Islands, and William at a remote outpost in India.
His life's motto, ''Expect great things from God, attempt great things for God" has inspired millions of people around the world.
