THANK YOU! That is what i have been saying for ages. But if you tell this to a grammar-fanatic, they usually act like you insulted their holy book. With grammar you leanr ABOUT a language, but never a language. Plus, i have the feeling you learn much more about it when using it, as you are basically using the phonlogy rules subconciously, which basically govern the language. Speaking a language uses so many more possibilities to learn a language - even muscle memory. We all had something "sounding/feeling wrong" and we did not know why...and later it turned out to be wrong.

An interesting interview! The bit at the end about responding to videos is a great idea. Perhaps you could make a video sometime where you talk to us viewers as if we were there? Like: "Heri visitavi amicam meam ut coquerem cenam una cum ea. Quid fecistis tu heri?" or things like that, so that us viewers can pause the video and try to respond in Latin.

I like the point you made about the "traditional" grammar translation method not actually being traditional. I'm in favor of making a change in how we talk about this situation. Let's start referring to the communicative approach as "the traditional method" (since that's how people like Erasmus learned the language) and calling the other way simply the "translation method".
