Rich WITH gold, not FROM gold. He was rich FROM slave trading.

An African Slave Trader.
Mansa Musa was the African ruler of the Mali Empire in the 14th century. When Mansa Musa, a Muslim, took a pilgrimage to Mecca in 1324 he reportedly brought a procession of 60, 000 men and 12, 000 slaves. Slavery was prevalent in many West and Central African societies before and during the trans-Atlantic slave trade

Its crazy how many people are defending mansa musa rn just bc he was a rich black guy. I literally just read 3 different people say "his type of slavery wasnt as bad as western slavery"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 idk why I've gotta keep saying this I thought we all played connect the dots as kids but if it wasnt for people like mansa musa getting a thriving slave trade going in Africa then when America was founded do you really think we would have had African slaves? You you think a bunch of Rich fat European men were going to go to Africa and chase people down and catch them in nets? Let me rephrase the question. If you want a chocolate bar are you gonna start processing cocoa beans? No your gonna go buy em at the store that's already got them on the shelves.

Its actually King Solomon. The Malian King Mansa Musa is probably the only one who had comparable wealth. But given that Solomon lived thousands of years before Musa, the wealth of Solomon could probably be unrivaled for all time.

I always thought Solomon, the son of David, the son of Jesse, was the wealthiest of all time.

Ask Gengis Khan how funny that sounds.

I thought it was King Solomon. 🤷🏽‍♀️ According to Google, King Solomon net worth would have been $2.1 Trillion and that’s without his trade and business.

King Solomon. Nobody has ever been close to the wealth of king Solomon

Mansa Musa's wealth certainly came from many sources, including trade routes and agriculture, but his influence and legacy are complex. Discussions around figures like him can bring out strong opinions, especially when it intersects with contemporary issues like race and wealth.
