DESERTED BORNEO HIGHLANDS | Camping in an Abandoned Paradise

Pro Outdoor Gear organised a group camping weekend at the Borneo Highlands, and we decided to join! The Borneo Highlands is a large area in the deep jungle, some 2 hours drive from Kuching. Most of the area is deserted and abandoned, making it a great location for campoing adventures.

Last I went up there was in 2020. That time I joined Borneo Dragon Back Ultra. The view was worth it when you walking and running from down hill until the top.

I see that this place is pretty much abandoned. But the nature still nice, n i always love the view of kalimantan border. That's pretty much what borneo highland is all about.

Nick, already seen the movie 'Tegkang' which was released 28 Nov 2024?
I know you've been to Bario Highland thou, the movie is worth viewing.
May be you could make a review of this 1st ever movie in Kelabit, and was screened in Bario.
Others are recommended to view it too.

that place was not well managed..typical of Sarawak when it comes to big scale places (been there, seen it all over the years)… places like this looks good on paper, and for a good few years until it started to go downhill slowly or in some cases drastically (usually due to internal ‘thingy’).. such a waste n shamed to see it’s abandoned, it has potentials, if only in the right hands…

Used to work at the resort until it was closed before covid. Is it open or it still close still? Really miss the view and the weather. Watching your video reminds me of the good time i was there

I have been once paid for entrance fees and going up there but got denied go any further at the second gate by gaurds who told us if without any reservations for stay in then we cant go in, since that time onward I resent to come this place everagain. Only can say that very Unfriendly environment, bad management and there no clue and any guide for local or foreign to visit there.
