Jailing someone for exposing your crimes is peak corruption

Saddening to hear. This effectively discourages people from doing the right thing.

Typical government. They can't get their act together and actually do whats right. Justice for my man David.

Worse is Australia has now investigated and acknowledged the war crimes but David is still in prison. Additionally, a large number of soldiers involved have 'departed the mortal realm' since the investigation started (and although David claims the crimes were perpetrated by the higher ups not a single one so far has been investigated). Thank you for sharing this story, as an Australian it is very concerning.

I'm Australian, and I've been horrified at David's treatment from the beginning. He doesn't belong in jail- the murderers he exposed should be there instead.

As the child of an Australian serviceman, to me David represents the best I have seen throughout my father's service. David's honesty and moral fortitude are so like my father's and many of his fellow servicemen who were my extended family growing up.

Sadly, I have also met servicemen who were like the murderers David exposed, and considered themselves superior to others and entitled to harm others. My father would always let me know before attending a function if someone there wasn't safe to be around, and when I was older, he would often tell me why. The Australian military is fundamentally broken. In recruitment, they're good at keeping out people with a history of depression, but truly terrible at screening for homicidal and other dangerous impulses. Some divisions of the military are so toxic their su*cide rate is through the roof. I once met a decorated forty year old combat veteran fighter pilot who, immediately after shaking my hand, in a moment when my father was next to me but distracted with another conversation, made a sexual comment about me and one of my siblings- we were FOURTEEN YEARS OLD, and we looked like and were dressed like CHILDREN. That man should have never passed the psych evaluation.

“He never could have expected what happened next”
He was extremely aware and very vocal about how the Aussie government was going to handle it. He never had any doubt he’d be prosecuted

Politicians will call him a traitor who sold out his country. Meanwhile the civilians see him as a hero who exposed the truth

Thank you for posting this🫶

Fun fact, the prosecutor argued that he just had to follow orders and do his "duty".

Essentially what the trials after WW2 were arguing against. If you know orders are illegal or unlawful you must refuse them.
