There are 4 different types of triads: Major, minor, diminished, and augmented. Each of these can be in root position, where the root of the chord is on the bottom, or inverted with the bottom note of the chord on top, or the top note of the chord on the bottom! You can see how well you can hear the difference between these chords, and let us know how well you did in the comments. and let us know if you'd like more videos like this!

That was fun. Should do more. Got everything right. I imagine 7th chords, modes, and intervals will be a bit harder.

I was fine telling the difference between major and minor, but couldn't easily identify the dim and aug versions. Thanks for a great video!

I can not gues a single one... so difficult to me.. How can I learn to develop that skill?

Diminished sounds like a magician doing tricks. Augmented sounds like something wrong or mysterious has happened on a cartoon like The Simpsons. A place is dilapidated or a parallel universe has been entered.

I've seriously started to work on my weakest area, ear training.
But I'm going to work in only one major key and one minor key for as long as it takes.
It's good since it takes my mind off the tinnitus.

Diminished chords sound like Beethoven; augmented chords sound like Debussy.

Lions are hopeless beyond major. A professional jazz musician would get them all.

Majors, ok. Diminish ok. But all the time mixing between minor and augmented... Even if everytime a chord was played, I could place it in a music piece that I have heard on the piano.

A diminished triad sounds almost like a dominant 7th chord, but an augmented one has its unique flavor.
PS, inversions of a diminished triad sound more like a diminished 7th chord, but slightly "empty".

Not fun! I read music, I'm not a music major, I enjoy my songs. I'm not a composer. But, I enjoy your teachings. Keep it up!

This is why theory never sticks with me. No matter how often my teacher drills this, I’ll NEVER get it.
I can tell by ear which is which, but that’s it. Don’t ask me to to play one :(

Inverting a diminished 7th chord gives the same chord as well.

augmented just sounds very dissonant to me :))
