Black Diamond athlete Tommy Caldwell is arguably the world's best big-wall free climber, and he focuses much of his attention on imposing unclimbed lines on Yosemite's iconic El Capitan. The past few years, Tommy has been putting massive amounts of energy into his Dawn Wall project, a still-unclimbed beast that's stacked with pitch after pitch of improbable and insecure 5.14 climbing. How does Tommy stay in shape for his yearly attempts on this futuristic route? We took a trip to Tommy's house in Estes Park, Colorado to find out.

What a mellow crusher. Impressive. Hope it goes well for him on the dawn wall.

Estes Park is one the most beautiful places I have ever been. My grandparents are 93 this year and still go out and volunteer mainly around black bear lake

The Fitz traverse and the Dawn Wall made Caldwell into a different person. Especially since TDW, he seems more sober, more mature. I suppose fatherhood also had a lot to do with it.

Tommy was in Yosemite this week working the Dawn Wall with Chris Sharma, but it's to bad for the government shutdown making Yosemite closed.
