It’s really very simple . The track athlete turns in an absolutely consistent time. It’s probably 200 meters. He knows exactly how far to let him get ahead, then at each “turn” he looks to see if he needs to speed up or slow down. It’s very unlikely that someone will beat him. If he allows too much room at the start and that challenger happens to be a real track star type, then maybe. Otherwise you’ll see him win every time and the closer, the better
