SimBox - An FMC On Your Tablet for PMDG, Fenix & FBW!

Показать описание
In this video we're checking out SimBox, a piece of software that allows you to run an FMC / MCDU from your Android or iOS tablet. Compatible with PMDG, Fenix and FlyByWire, this is a great way to get an FMC on the go without pinning yourself down to a specific aircraft type.

Many thanks to the developer of SimBox for offering us a free licence so we can check this out on the channel.

I've been using SimBox with the Fenix and an iPad for quite a while and it works really well. I've never had an issue with it.

Seems like a great app, I'm impressed with how responsive it is! I do keep meaning to get a tablet for this..

How cool is that. It works with the 777! And it works very good. Thanks AirNOTT and Flyingart, I purchased an 8" Android tablet purely for Simbox which was as expensive as one Winwing MCDU/FMS. It has the perfect screensize for showing these things.

Hi 👋🏻

Thank you for your video 🙏

MD-11 is planned of course, hopefully sooner than later.

From my experience - iPad tablets are the best for SimBox. New ones of course. Everything should work great on Android, too. It’s just my personal opinion.

Cheers 🫡

Not used Simbox, but I highly recommend "Airtrack NG" on an ipad for simulating 737 / Airbus. I use this on every flight, as you can run your ipad in split screen mode and have the 737 Artificial Horizon/ speed etc on the left, and the moving Navigation flight plan with all the waypoints on the right. You can switch on live traffic (you can even add the call signs), and also terrain map over the flight leg plan, it looks fantastic. No need for other gadgets. The flight plan you can import from Simbrief. You also have MCP/ Radio displays. Developers are also very helpful . I am not in an way connected, but just want other MSFS fans to give it a try. Maybe you can review Airtrack NG too.

Great looking product. I tend to mainly fly the FBW A32NX, and have used an old Android tablet for the FMC, which works really well, although I would like a tactile feel that a touchscreen can't provide. That said, if they provide support for the MD-11, I would probably buy it given it already supports the 777.
Re using SimBox for other functions such as knob and dial controls, I have a Behringer X-Touch Mini that works really well and provides that tactile element. Once I get my hands on the MD-11 or 777, I'll see if there's a way to interrogate the sim variables to access via Axis-and-Ohs that can then control the X-Touch.

I own the Cockpit Simulator hardware 737 CDU and it’s great. I use it with all PMDG aircraft but if this application you reviewed would support inibuilds A300 or the TFDI MD-11, I would buy it in a heartbeat. I hope it will in the future. Great video, my friend.

FYI: fbw has this feature built in and free of charge using their simbridge software

Wonder if it’s less intensive on resources than using the FBW simbridge. Also, just found the channel, great stuff!

It is the only thing I would have done different on the 787. The 2 FMCs on the lower DU should have been touchscreens. If the screen is worn out, the airline can just replace it.

Is that comparable to WebFMC for X-Plane? Seems to have additional features, but not supporting that many X-Plane aircraft.

It’s strange, for me, the fmc/mcdu doesn’t even show as an option. Even in administrator mode. Says it’s disabled. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yoo you should give us a list of your fav routes, i am really running out of ideas about good flight routes haha

This is really neat. I noticed the app supports radio manipulation. How seamless is radio tuning in the 737 with the app?

This looks really good.
Too bad there's no A300-600 version out there. That's the plane I fly the most.

Might have to check this out. Unrelated question but what make, model and size monitor are you using? How’s the performance?
