So that's the story of how my players have a bottle of white misty air in their inventory

I had a mind flare in my game and my party stuffed and mounted its head

“I want to loot the (gnoll god)”
Well… you now have that one specific three-headed flail that I’m going to have to figure out how to balance.

The artificer: “can I do stuff to it?”
Me: *dying inside* “yes, you have the ability and needed components to do basically anything”

There is now a fighter wielding a heavily modified three-headed flail that they won from destroying a god. When used, it forces a wisdom save (on a fail, it gives +1 level of madness) but may or may not have the ability to shoot fire and lightning into a target.

My dm used this I was able to make a hilt from a beholder eye stalk and amethyst it was like a ring of spell storing but for shadow blade only soooo fun to envision

I want to make a beholder eye(central) shield where I can cast counterspell. Would that work?

I also reccomend a series of books on DMs guild "Hamund's Harvesting Handbook" it has 3 parts

If your players killed a beholder either they're far to strong or you didn't play the beholder right, they're much more likely to either tpk or flee of their attacks aren't working. Though if your group decided before hand that the campaign is more light hearted and they want to feel like heroes overcoming the impossible I could see you downplaying their resourcefulness

My campaign yesterday we just killed our first dragon and looted its horde while also remembering that all of us are low key neutral evil fucks so we kinda raided a dwarven vault filled with chests



And got 1 gold which is good because Tarot deck shenanigans earlier that campaign caused me to go level 9 (level 11 if our dm let me) and gave everyone else some dumb stuff
