it sounds that way because that's more than likely between 45-50hz. It is a very sharp and obnoxious frequency range that can achieve high decibel levels on subwoofers especially the L7. Have that same sub/box play some 20-30hz frequencies and you will notice a massive drop in decibel level. 

And just to prevent the youtubers from saying "all subs arent as loud at that frequency range, There have been multiple systems achieving over 150 decibels under 20hz. 

All in all, the kicker L7 is a decent entry level sub for achieving loud high bass notes, but if you want to move air, and impress the ladies go for subs and boxes that play much much lower.

I mean you can get one but it's not necessary. I just got a bigger battery and did the "big 3" upgrade. It's obviously more expensive but it helps out a lot more than a capacitor would.

Not my cup of tea but as a former sound Marshall and Custom Audio installer many years back - there seems to be distortion in that bass . When bass and music isn’t crisp clear and defined - we grade down the sound system .
Dynamic Bass Range aka SPL A weighted in dB seems to be what you are seeking here .
Have you tested the subs with a decent reference music source?

Great vid bro, that subwoofer is brought to it's full potential and the SQ is quite good for a solo beric. very nice set up ;) if you want to upgrade i suggest the Kicker Q class L7. I am a proud owner of the new L7 15" and it's a ground shaker for sure with a SQ better then kicker has ever produced before

I'm a fosgate fan, but I also love kickers power.. Just thought I'd clarify that before I comment.. That amp fits that sub just fine.. He said he was running his gain a notch under halfway.. So he was probably running anywhere from 450-500 watts to it, and that's going to outplay quite a few systems just at half power.. I don't know why people like to bash that amp.. He's probably just running about half to preserve his amp and sub, that stuff is way to expensive to take a chance on blowing it..

bass boost was just turned on (there's no option for adjustment on this amp) and the gain was a notch below half

@MusicWithDABASS Unfortunately I don't live in the States, so I can't get my hands on a lot of subs, for example the Fi ones. Shipping them would cost a lotta money.
