Pike Fishing with the StrikePro Guppie Jr! (it gets hammered)

Terrible weather to be out fishing but its the only day I had spare to try out the StrikePro guppie! I've wanted one of these for a while but never got round to trying one out, i'm glad I did now, straight into my box of best lures!

Looks very well. Like videos. Want to ask, any suggestion on bitecaster reel and rod to get for first time use? Was looking at Abu Garcia black red combo. Maybe you have any other suggestions, i am doing small river and canal fishing. Thanks
