Southbound Sessions Presents: Dylan Gossett - "Coal"

Dylan came across my Instagram feed a few weeks ago as an old college friend (Dylan's cousin funny enough) shared his video and then just overnight it blew up. Being viewed millions of times across platforms and I was sent the video by my girlfriend, friends, and many others to try to get him on this channel.

I was headed down to Central Texas for a wedding and luckily, Dylan's family lake house was a short 15-minute detour to shoot this video. We battled the wind, bright sun & wasps to make this one happen, hope yall enjoy it.

I jus read the story of this video. I try not to hate unless it comes to wasps😂. I love this song though, ive always come back to it ever since it came out (other songs of Dylan aswell) and it still hits my soul. Reading how it went down jus made it all the better. Crazy how it took, essentially, "15 minutes" to make something that will last for YEARS. Not jus in their life, my life, but in yours aswell. Cheers ol son, thanks for the video!

Felt the song. The trouble is opening your heart and when someone leaves that void is there. You open yourself up after healing, fall in love. Troubles that can't be avoided or are too great to arise to. Fall apart. Heal. Start again.

All the while holding on the good memories from the past and what could have been for them and you. Baggage that should be thrown out but it stays around. It's nice to have all the warm memories but you can be hallucinating almost like dying to the cold.

It's super painful to heat back up, but if you wish to live you gotta heal, mentally cleanse and move on.

Anyhow I obviously loved the song. Keep on keeping on brother. Love you for being a heart surgeon. ❤

I first heard of Dylan Gossett trough a small video clip that appeared on my Instagram. It was some guy doing a cover of this song. I immediately liked it and decided to look up Gossett to see if he made other songs that were great like Coal. I was really happy when I heard all of them and realized that I actually loved many of his songs. My favorites so far are "beneath Oak Tree" and "No Better Time". Can't wait to see what he will do in the future! Lot's of potential here!
