My first impression with the reworked tracks was that they sounded just like the live performances of today which is testament to how tight the live performances are. Matt Doyle is a fine addition to the band and does a great job of performing the vocal parts originally done by Ali. The only real negative for me was that Tyler was cut short. The instrumental at the end is an integral part of the song. If they could do it in 1980 in Bob Lamb's 8-track home studio they could recreate it today. The new material more than makes up for this and I get that UB45 is in part looking back and celebrating 45 years in the music business. I've been a fan since 1987 and I've already bought the album. UB40 is one of those few bands that actually deserve their royalites so please buy the album and support these guys. I'm sure the late great Brian Travers would be proud.

Hope you'll forgive me, but I felt the urge to comment on how I feel about the current incarnation of the band. I've been a fan since the very first chord of Tyler, back on Signing Off way back when. Know something? The only thing I found to be the weak spot about UB40 back then was Ali's voice. Because the overall quality of both the music and the songs was so good, I kind of tolerated Ali Campbell singing because the band was just sooo good. When he left, I actually thought Duncan's coming in was a stroke of genius. His voice was similar enough to Ali's to make the band's sound still unmistakeable, whilst also being a much fuller tone, with a much more satisfying timbre to it. When Duncan sadly had to step down (How is he these days BTW?), you found Matt, and I can't even begin to express how much I love Matt's voice and presence within the band. Hope this doesn't make him get big headed (mind you, the rest of the band won't let him, eh?), but it seems to me that now, with the changes in the band, which are inevitable after 45 years, UB40 are the best they've ever been. Loads of bands that have been around that long have few original members left, if any at all in some cases, so for you guys to still have those that you do (and if Brian hadn't left us, it would be even more of course) puts you in a very strong position. For my money, For the Many and this one, UB45 are as good as anything you've ever put out, and right now I can't stop playing UB45, it's so good. I managed to see UB40 live many years ago in a park near Cardiff Castle in South Wales, and it still sticks in my mind as one of the best concerts I've ever attended. The fact that Ruby Turner was your support was pretty cool too. TBH, Ali's voice was always to me slightly too 'reedy, ' and now you've fixed that with Matt, I can hardly wait for all the new material that you've yet to put out. UB40 have been the soundtrack to my life for four and half decades, and hopefully will continue to be so for many years to come. I don't think (sorry to mention him yet again) that anything that Ali Campbell has put out since he rather foolishly left the band (thinking too much of himself, sadly) can hold a candle to what his former bandmates have recorded. All this is simply my humble opinion of course, so please, if anyone reading this thinks differently, that's fine, I respect your views, but don't attack me for mine OK? Peace and love to all.
