Ever wondered how to read people's body language like Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock? Well, in this video on Practical Inspiration we look at how to read people's body language using psychology and even how to read people's minds. By learning how to read people's body language, and understanding the psychology in behaviour can help you better understand how people are, how they think and why they do what they do. It's a valuable skill to learn, and learning to read minds and read body language can help you go a long way.

So learn these tips to read people's body language, specifically how to read body language (like an fbi agent), understanding subliminal body language, which can be put to the test in your day to day life. What you'll find is your body language may shape who you are and learning to read mind using these tips and tricks, can help you learn how to read minds like it's a magic trick.

Below is a summary of what's discussed:

1. Trust Your Instinct
- They say not judge a book by it's cover and sometimes this statement is absolutely true, we misunderstand or misinterpret what we believe on occasion
- That said, there's evidence to suggest that first impressions are often quite accurate
- This is because we're highly sensitive to minute body cues people give on first impression, understanding their character and intentions quickly
- However, Sam Gosling, a personality psychologist at the University of Texas, does add that you need to be willing to update your impressions quickly, which can be challenging

2. Identify Abnormal Behaviour
- Many people give off a number of signals in their behaviour when they don't behave as you might expect in certain situations
- For example, if you are in a warm or comfortable, then crossing arms is likely to have greater meaning, such as someone feeling defensive, than when in a cold room
- This is because our natural response to cold is to close off our body, but in a warm room this would be an unnecessary meaning and is likely to have more psychological significance to it
- So be sensitive to these behaviours, as they can mean more than you might first think

3. Identify Telltale Signs
- When people have certain intentions they will give off signals which often expose their intentions in a given situation
- For example, when someone is lying, they will often exhibit signs of discomfort that can give away their lack of honesty
- These would usually be touching their hands and face, and appearing defensive, such as crossing arms or leaning away when talking to you
- This can also be applied to other things, for example narcissists have a tendency give visual clues to their personality, such as wearing expensive clothing, showing muscle or for some women, showing off cleavage

4. Identify Trust
- When someone is mimicking or at the very least using similar body language to you during a conversation it is usually a signal they feel emotionally in sync with you
- While some do try to use this to their advantage in certain circumstances, notably in job interviews, it is hard to appear genuine throughout the course of a conversation
- Another sign of someone trustworthy is that they are more emotionally expressive with you, showing that they are more likely to be more cooperative
- Likewise, showing these traits can help endear you to other people, making you more approachable and appear more friendly

5. Identify Attraction
- Let's be honest, for most this is the most common reason for wanting to have the ability to read others
- Two signals to look at out for are research has shown women will speak less hesitantly and more smoothly when comfortable with a man, someone they might perceive as more than just a friend
- The second sign is both across genders people naturally speak with a deeper tone of voice when speaking to someone they attracted to
- For today that's all, but keep an eye out as I will be doing a video that delves significantly deeper into cues of attraction

I am really enjoying working through your content and I will be back to watch even more... I have got really good at reading body language since I have suffered a long time from social anxiety, so in understanding this I have become a great observer!

LOVE this! I agree that body language speaks louder than words. We often question our first impressions or observations, but they are often incredibly accurate! We definitely condition ourselves to overlook even obvious clues. The book "The Gift of Fear" was really insightful on this topic if you haven't read it. Incredibly insightful video! <3

Well, it takes some time to fully understand people's behavior and I think practicing regularly can develop our habit of reading other people.

Great editing and stock videos! Looks professional. While the music is quiet and doesn't disturb, having only your voice will make the videos just a little easier to understand. Less distractions. Try using music only in the beginning and in the end or at important parts to use music as an effective tool. I know you have tried this before but people have recently told me they would not want music when someone is talking. Especially in educational videos such as yours.

How to use the music? Trust your instincts as you wisely suggested.

Hate to break it to you. There is only one reality. Ones perception of it ( or not ) can’t be disguised or affirmed by body language. What they say or do is a more accurate, concrete evidence. Body language and emotions are fluid according to the situation. For example an Alpha male is not that in every instance.
