I’ve been in two unions, Retail Clerks and the Teamsters. Worst experiences of my life. I was told that I was performing too efficiently at each because my performance was exceeding contractually negotiated quotas for productivity.

Unions are stronger when there are more members and there are more members when labor productivity is lower, whether by labor performing higher or when the company invests in plant and equipment that helps existing members perform more efficiently. Unions interfere with economic efficiency. It’s in their self interest to do so. They rarely care about national interests.
