This is a great piece of advice. I grew up with my father hating my mother and after 36 years i still have problems with my father. And he will never admit that.

My Mother never said a negative thing about my dad and she had a lot to say. Before she passed away, I asked her why she never said anything bad about the man that chose not to be in my life and she said,
" You are one half of your father and I love that half of you. He gave me you and I will be forever grateful for that." She had so much she could have said, but she put me first. Thank you Mom for putting me first and raising me to be grateful.

20 years ago when i divorced my first husband when we were going through a nasty divorce and a child custody battle. I remember my boys who were one and 3 at the time. I was on the phone with thier daddy and i started cussing and yelling. Then i looked up and saw that my boys had stopped eating and they looked terrified. That was the first and last time i ever said anything bad about him. Its about the kids not us. Now my children are 32 25 and 22

I made a nasty Facebook post about my daughter's father once and my daughter who was a teenager let me have it to the point that I had to apologize and admit I was wrong. Never happened again. And he was a very inconsistent parent and never paid support but the kids don't really care about that.

Soooo true. My dad truly hates my mom and he has said some extremely horrendous things about her to my face. It breaks my heart. I’m 30 and my mom is very sick… my dad straight up said, “she’s going to die any day now. You just need to prepare yourself for that”. It shocked me and made me cry. He’s such a great guy, but that’s definitely the one thing he’s done that makes me upset with him. I have 3 kids and their dad is awful, but I NEVER fight with him or say a single bad thing about him out loud when they’re around me.

One of the greatest and wisest advice Chris could give to her daughter! My world was shattered when my grandmother revealed to me that when I was a toddler my father left the family and returned 3 years later....From that time and on both my grandmother and my mother were badmouthing my father without realising how hurtful they were for my soul....No matter the kind of relationship the exes have their one and only priority must be the well being of their children!

This is amazing advice and true advice. Like for my step sisters when my mom and step dad got into fights and they would just tell us 2 go in our rooms like if we couldent hear anything but the thing is that *we can hear everything* and that made them cry and even me couldent handle it and then my mom would talk shit and stuff and throwing things and that rlly hit my sis and ME. My step dad was even talking about my biological dad and he was talking shit bout him and all I did was cry bc I couldent punch him…
