Derek is one of the best! Always a pleasure to partner with him on his rigs!

Never heard of this guy and I’m not a country fan, but what a great session. John did a great job of letting his guest talk and drawing him out.

I just love it wehn you do rig run downs of Session Players. I learn so much from these and find insights on things I never would ahve thought of. Not that i don't with toruing musicians but it seems like you have more time to sit down and get into the nuances of everything they use and it gives me ideas for gear that might be useful to me. I would encourage you all to do more!!!

It’s taken me awhile to learn session players are the best guitar players. They make the music and Derek is no exception. Seems like a great dude!

Another great rundown!
That Danelectro baritone with the Senn bridge is the coolest guitar I'll see thanks to everyone at Premier Guitar for cranking these vids out for us🎶

Many thanks to Derek and John for this interview! I've been a fan of Derek for years and had the honor to meet him at 3rd and Lindsley a few years ago when I moved to town. He was so encouraging and gracious with me, and I actually saw him the next night at Basement East. So cool! He's definitely one of my favorite session guys. I'm blessed to now be gigging in and around Nashville and I think about Derek's kindness towards me often.

A John Bohlinger rundown is always the best. I will say I was disappointed I didn’t hear him say “they got it right the first time” about the Tele. Lol.

Derek is one of my top guitar heroes and a big inspiration, I've been waiting for this rig rundown! So cool to hear you guys talk guitars and amps. What a great video! Loved the part about J.T too; dissecting his and Derek's awesome parts every day from all my favorite records has made me an immensely better player. Thank you Derek!

I met Derek about 10 years ago playing with Natalie Hemby at Tin Pan South. He was very gracious when I asked about his pedalboard. I live here now. I do find it funny that he begged us on IG to never play/write tracks with those 10ths riffs again... he played them near the end on the Duesenberg. haha! Great interview!

Wow. So I am gonna go seek out some of Derek’s work! Amazes me how many stellar players there are “behind the scenes” - you know Brent and Bryan Sutton but I’d never heard of Bukovac until his rig rundown, and now Derek. Such a thoughtful musician and I learned a whole lot today! Inspired me to finally finish my ongoing mini spaceship with a little RJM PBC6x at it’s core!

This one has been a wealth of knowledge! Thank you! What a great player and appreciate all of the tips on how to be “in the mix” as well as how to be a valuable session player.

My Multiple Sclerosis is making me feel like I'm dying right now, but if I recover enough and I can still play, I'm going to write and record some awesome music before I no longer can. No, I'm not looking for sympathy, I'm just saying what I'm thinking. Never give up!!
