Beginner's guide to ZFS. Part 1: Introduction

In this series of videos I demonstrate the fantastic file system called ZFS.

Part 1 is an introduction explaining what ZFS is and the things it is capable of that most other file systems cannot do.

One thing that I did not mention in the video (because it's not in the slide pack) is that ZFS is capable of de-duplication. That is, it is capable of identifying identical blocks of data and storing just one copy of that block, thus saving disk space. I will demonstrate this in a future video.

This is an excellent hands on tutorial covering everything you wanted to know about ZFS, but we're afraid to ask. Be sure to check the playlist for the other video's in this series. Well Done!

The single biggest question I have right now is....are you talking about OpenZFS or Oracle ZFS and what are the actual differences?
