Ultrasonic sensors – the alternative for difficult surfaces

Ultrasonic sensors transmit and receive sound waves in the ultrasonic range. The object to be detected reflects the sound waves and the distance information is determined via time of flight measurement. I am trying to find a sensor that I could update te range to a max range of 127mm or 5", are your sensors teachable with buttons or do I need software? Thanks!

Am amazed with the technology of yours... but what will happen if there was a foam above the liquid level.. how will this technology give us the correct reading? can you explain if possible
