CRUMBLING! 10 Years of China's Belt and Road Initiative

This year China is celebrating 10 years since the launch of its Belt and Road Initiative, or as some call it, it's Debt and Noose Initiative. It's supposed to help developing countries that wouldn't qualify for aid from western-backed institutions to develop their infrastructure. But the BRI has gained a reputation as putting developing countries deep in debt for shoddy projects that don't make money.

Why is china considered a developing country and given advantages and aid as such but also at the same time throwing cash all over world. Let’s not talk about military spending.

You'll be surprise here in the Philippines we have railway projects that was supposed to go to China but didn't push through because the Chinese bank would not allow the loan. That was many months ago. Yesterday in the local news it was again being talked about saying the Philippines is still on the negotiation table with China regarding the projects wishing it will push through. It seems now Philippines is begging to China and after watching this video I can help to think why our government is really into China rather than pursuing the projects with other nations. Currently many of our ongoing rail projects are being done by Japan and South Korea so why still keep wishing for China.

I was in Laos last year and rode the China Fancy railway and I will say only Chinese foreigners and business people ride this train because it's very expensive.
Locals don't take it. This episode is do accurate.

I will admit, the "Laos-y deal" was the first time you got a genuine chuckle out of me.

This applies to infrastructure as well as society, actions have consequences and they can be far-reaching.

China scores high on that one.

I think John Oliver talked about this years ago. Everyone loves opening new bridges and roadways… but repairs? Booooring! This is why infrastructure falls into disrepair.

Governor of Arkansas Sarah Huckabee with the AR legislative body are evicting a Chinese company 150 acre farm used for seed research. They are suspect or actually caught stealing US patents/research and failed to file paperwork that was to be done no later than July. They have to sell the farm that China claimes to have a value of 1.5 million $ and pay the maximum fine of 25% of the value of the property. The legislature gentlemen paused and shrugged his shoulders when stated the value, seems exorbitant, stating this is according to China’s declared value of said property that must be sold or forfeited. We need to do that here in Missouri in my opinion.

Share this video please. Very direct and to the point. Everyone, especially people in those 152 BRI trapped nations, should know what’s happening.

I remember a decade ago the STM (Montréal transport agency) wanted to change their aging subway trains. The requirements was "Must be on tires, must be built in Québec". This is because, well, the subway trains are on tires so the entire infrastructure is designed to work with that AND the subway is completely underground so no worries about the weather... usually.
China's proposition was: "Iron wheels, update the entire subway infrastructure and built in China."
Their proposition was, of course rejected even if their submission was 30% lower then the competition. The Chinese company tried to sue the STM in court and the judge simply laughed in their faces and said "Your submission did not match the requirements, case dismissed".

I fear that Montréal dodged being on this list of Rails to nowhere -_-.

Sadly my country's president just announced his cooperation with Xi and his investments in our country... He even said that our country would support the "one China policy". I´m from Chile btw 😅.

Similarly in Vietnam China started building a railway system that has never seen the light of day as it has not been finished.

Considering how shaky china's economy is, it makes me wonder how long they can continue lending like this. If countries start defaulting on their bri debt then china is gonna be in a world of pain.
