Betting is one of the things that make me appreciate growing up poor. I've tried gambling just for shits and gigs with the buddies, and I've won money, but it still feels gross to me that i'm even risking the chance of losing money.

Betting can be a slippery slope especially if your winning. Then it gives you the confidence to bet it all on something dumb and reset you back to 0

One of the worst things that can happen your first time gambling is you winning. It sets a precedent and you will try to chase those losses. It is very important to set a limit that you leave the table at for both winning and losing.
