Excellent sermon. I like your explanation of the death of David's young son. Sometimes I wonder about God's allowing the killing of all of Job's adult children, as a trial for Job. Would God allow faithful followers to be killed, as a trial for someone else? My thinking is that the children were doing wickedness in God's sight, but that God had had been sparing them for Job's sake. So, for the purposes of the trial, he merely ceased sparing them. This would explain why Job was sacrificing on their behalf earlier, just in case. That suggests to me that Job knew that they had a tendency to get in trouble.
