The whole point of cutting the cord is to eliminate a monthly recurring fee. So the HDHomeRun DVR service doesn't appeal to me at all especially when its recording programs on a hard disk paid for, to HDHomeRun. Even if it is "free" for a year.

I wish you'd said more. Where is cable card go? How does it deal with CP channels? Can you move recordings off that to a server? So much more that I wish you'd said. However, didn't know of this product and happy that you are covering CES. Kudos.

Jason -- Please, keep us up-to-date on issues related to SiliconDust. I used to have one with a 2 tuner for cable, but I didn't like it because it couldn't do protected content. I had a cable card, but couldn't use it with that -- so I just gave up the cable card. But, I plan to go back once better tech comes along to make it easier for recording. WMC was hard to maintain and keep working.

I get my tv signals trough a standard ethernet cable (rj45), iwe tried to find coverters that convert the signals from my ISP (who also do my TV services on a dedicated port in my fibre box at home (not wan/lan ports, its a Zyxel FMG3542-D10A box) to the HDHomeRun Expand (4 tuners), but have not found anything that works yet, if someone out there on the great Interwebs know of any solutions please share them with me :)

My ISP have a ton of free channels on their channel rooster, i was hoping to atleast see them in my PLEX DVR box. :)

Iwe tested the HDHomerun box at a friends place who had coaxial calble tv, and it worked like a charm there.

They need to fix their premium channel licensing disputes. They lost a block of channels in recent months. Realize they work with another company for providing them, but it does not make them as competitive they need to be in that market.
They also started $10/month refunds for the lost channels, but I don't see them applying that price for anyone looking to sign up, which is not cool. Was really hoping to switch to them so I could integrate local and some paid channels into plex.

The HD Homerun DVR is pretty decent, but until it provides a way to import my existing recorded tv library, I cant switch over to it.

Nice announcement but it would have been nice to see some of the interface and functionality if they allowed you. Will it integrate with Plex or is it totally separate?
