I was late to the A310 party but had a go at KTM in the jet today…same approach Rwy 02 VOR, the V/L captured ok (with VORs tuned and selected both left and right on FCU and in the FMS pages) plus LOC tuned on the central ILS pedestal tuner. I had issues getting a steady descent and speed profile as the ‘FMS activate approach’ didn’t work despite being on a perfect profile at the IAF.

This gets a bit technical but your ‘height to lose from current to desired FL divided by 1, 000 then multiplied by 3’….followed by diving with speed brakes to hit constraints…well that just won’t work on the VOR 02 into VNKT.

Getting 5.3 degrees on the FPA descent profile which KTM requires - must be done old school as the VNAV/FMS cannot get close to useful (the LNAV isn’t super great either). This all makes this specific jet, at this airport, & with this approach, a proper old school ‘thinking session’. KTM calls for the steep 5.3 degrees FPA (way more than your standard 3 degrees) hence ground speed must be multiplied by 9.39 to calculate the required feet per minute descent rate to nail that 5.3 angle…the maths work if flown out of ‘profile mode’ with pilot-commanded FCU adjustments and then hand-flying at around 500 to 1, 000 AGL.

The maths gets easy with practice….your magic conversion is GND SPD * 9.39 = feet per minute descent rate to maintain 5.3 degrees approach 😊

Flown manually it’s possible to get a nice profile with a very nice butter landing….just beware that toggling SPD BRK sets to half by default per Airbus convention at certain altitudes & flight conditions which I think Inibuilds hasn’t modeled….so get your mouse and viewpoint ready to fully slide that lever back to stop a run-away speed buildup. If your jet doesn’t start flying green dot or your set equivalent down to V/APP don’t even think of landing at VNKT unless you know your way around the ‘Mulhouse Monster’.

Finally, the wait time is over. Nice, well done. We are back in the game. All pilot in Sims is in thier top skills have difficulty in the approach. Your approach was little bit off after crossing Guras you have to go full flaps but leave the gear and from the point you continuously decent then pull full flaps.I have done approach many times as a domestic flights.I have to give you a pretty good on environment awareness. I see many pilots fail or go around. I hoped you enjoy it.Try it with A330 with Nepal airlines in next stream

I haven't done a VOR approach with this aircraft yet but it's been a steep learning curve so far! I have to watch the auto throttle closely on approach as it is very slow to respond and can lead to bad surprises.

This used to be an actual scheduled flight, the only scheduled flight to eurpoe directly connecting Nepal.
