Install Any Operating System Over The Network

This is just one way to install Windows 10 or any other os via PXE. I will be using AIOBOOT which is a free bit of software when you can use.

Once again a very detailed and complete step-by-step way to understand and then use PXE to install “foreign” operating systems. Thank you so much Brian for all this stuff you publish on your channel!

A Cool Trick

You can skip the step of Shrinking your C drive in order to creating 15 GB of Drive. This is unnecessary and also little troublesome.

What you can do is: Create a Virtual Hard Disk (VHD) of 15 GB. The option for creating a VHD is in the disk management that is shown in the video. You can create a Virtual H Disk from the file menu. It'll be created on C drive. After creating a VHD in C drive, it'll be added downwards in the list. Find that new VHD right click on it then click INITIALIZE (maybe that is the option). The disk will be initialized.

After that this will act as an real partition. Then create a new simple volume by right clixking on it. After formatting and asaigning a drive letter it will be added to THIS PC.

The benefit of creating a VHD instead of creating a new partition is that, you can delete that VHD any time you like. And it'll not ever cause trouble to your Hard Disk partitions. Also you can copy the whole drive to another computer and use that. Very cool feature.

Nice video and well thought out. Do need to point out a rather serious bug in the AIO Boot tool. Other than the system boot partition, the AIO Boot tool will not see any partition that is on a drive that is connected to an NVME bus. It only sees those connected to a SCSI bus. For example, if you have a second drive that is an NVME stick (D:), and you take away some space for the network boot area, the AIO boot tool will not see D:, nor the partition that was created. On the other hand, if you have another drive, say E:, connected to a SCSI bus, no problem. The tools sees both E: and the partition that was newly created.

Does this installation Network method work with Windows 3.11 and Windows 95?

Please make a video with the new "AIO boot newgen" software (it's a newer version of the software, that you have used). A similar video of how to install a os via a network would be much appreciated, cause the newer version has some tricky features. Looking forward to it. Nice explanation bdw.

I just did this and my 2 tips:
1: at 7:53 when he picks Windows 7/8.1/10/Server setup - you pick it otherwise you will have a headache like me.
2: When prompted for username and password after you enter your disk path 14:57 - just create another account on your main pc like user:password so you will have access to rest of installation

I think is great to have at end all of your patrons presented, like in movies, all of who made it possible . I had a tool similar to this but it was in a corporate environment . Had more than 120 plus pc's to take care of, maintenance etc. productions and offices machines for hundreds of ppl .

Hi @Britec09. I followed all of your steps up to the point where I open up the AIO Boot Extractor program. When I do, it only shows my USB flash drive; I can't see the C drive or the other Network PXE drive I made. I ran the program in administrator mode. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Do I need to turn off the DHCP server off the main router and make the PC where the network boots off of, the DHCP server?
