6/7/45 and 17/7/45 two greek warships tried to invade Saranda, they were fought off by the artiliery.THEY Faild..so they asked BRITAIN to do it...
In january 1946 4 BRITISH warships on the pretext of clearing the corfu canal from Mines(a thing that was already done by the #Medri mission 1944/1945 #they also distributed a minesafe map)
The 4 ships went inside albanian waters, 500 meters from the shore were 2 ships hit the defensive mines...1 ship sank, 44 sailors died, 1 ship was damaged and towed by the other 2 to italy.
In 13/11/1946 4 British warships went back and cleared 20 mines of the shores of Saranda.
In 1949 ALBANIA was found guilty and paid Britain 844000 Sterling..
In 1954 Albania made a deal with the Soviets.(Albania got 4 subs and 4 warships and the SOVIETS got 2 joint bases and a port...TOTAL SUBS 11...In the area GREECE had 1 sub and Italy had 2...So the Soviets did whatever they wanted in the sea for about 8 years...
