In 2022 our Summer School returned, in full force, with the theme Through the Fire. Curated and created by a committee of our young people alongside the team, they explored the idea of home and the mythology of the phoenix to create a story celebrating the journey we have all been on through the last couple of years. We explore the sounds of Hope, Renewal, Wonder and Celebration of the new future: ours to mould.
Our Summer School had 129 young people coming together at the Southbank Centre to learn drums, brass, woodwind, steel pans and dance and create a spectacular show on the Ballroom Floor.
This is our version of Battle by Wookie arranged by Jermaine Amissah into Pan in A Minor by Lord Kitchener, arranged by Marlon Hibbert and Wade Austin.
The Summer School was funded by Arts Council England, Lambeth Summer of Food and Fun, Expertise Rocks and supported by the Southbank Centre.
