I have been watching knife videos for almost a decade now, and have successfully fought off the urge to dive into the rabbit hole of becoming a collector. This is because I know that I have an addictive personality, and that one knife, no matter how much I want it or how expensive it is will NEVER satisfy me, and that as soon as I put that one special knife in my pocket, I'll be immediately looking to purchase another one. I realized long ago that unless you have money to burn, having an expensive hobby can literally consume you; financially, and in many other ways too.

Thank you for this. I go down the rabbit hole with whatever hobby I have and I need this reminder while I'm fixing my past selfs mistakes.

I quit alcohol in September and reward myself with a knife here and there. Kinda works out nice. I love all the new things people are doing with knives.

It’s difficult to resist the allure of a new blade. I fight temptation everyday! Great video👍🏼

It's not that we feel that we need to catch up, It's more like ... "Oh! Shiny! I got to get that!" 😂

What a good reminder. As someone who wrestles with getting my next knife fix, it is encouraging to know that I'm not alone and I don't NEED it. Thx dude

Oh boy I just deleted a paragraph. Thanks for the content MC. Love this hobby and the friends I have made. Only been collecting for about 15 months. It’s been wild. Good episode. Well said sir.

When I started collecting I bought a few Gerbers. After a few weeks I realized they were junk. I started watching reviews and things like that and discovered Civivi, Kershaw, CRKT… after buying a few of those and seeing what things I like, and don’t like I got a taste of this hobby and became hooked. Since then I’ve been slowly climbing this ladder and buying nicer stuff. Currently I’m into modding Spydercos and buying Reate and Bestech made knives like the Vero Synapse and Peña X series stuff. I’m currently focusing exclusively on building my perfect work carry. I honestly think this is the best way to get into the hobby.

If I had one piece of advice for someone new, as a guy who’s been in it for about 2 and a half years, don’t go overboard on the budget stuff, as soon as you experience better knives you’ll have very little interest in using your old budget knives and they just sit in a case and never get used.

I think a big part of the problem is just how the industry works. The fact that very frequently you'll see things like "Only 12 made". It puts you in the constant dilemma of, now or never.

MC! First of all, I really enjoy and appreciate your content . It’s nice to see that you are going out of your way to take what I guess is “pressure “ off of people. We are all responsible for our own decisions, good and bad. That all being said, I just used those links and bought my most expensive knife yet👀Keep up the good work my man

It's not your responsibility! I started collecting at the end of November of last year and purchased about 100 knives in the last 2 months. All budget knives and an average of about $30. I haven't overdone it but if I did it would be my fault. Keep up the good work.

Yes, temptations. I love love love this hobby. I’ve moved on from my previous obsessions and am selling my Funko Pops to fund the fun. Still have a ton of PSA slabs that may go on the “chopping block” lol. I try not to use my current cash flow but tap into my other hobbies to be able to buy these awesome knives I never knew I needed.

MC,
Dude, I appreciate your enthusiasm so much. I think what you're trying to say is..
"Do not risk financial security for short term convenience, credit scores believe in you and live life while minimizing risk."

I wouldn't worry about it MC, because of you I am able to make better decisions on what I buy so thank you very much!
