Sad. That I'm done the intermediate videos, I just love to watch the way you ski and it looks so smooth and effortless. I'm excited to practise these and then move on to advanced.

Oh man... what a walk down memory lane. This was the FIRST thing I was taught at Gray Rocks back in the 80's. From that lesson, I learned the love of this sport.

Last season, these vids taught my wife enough to go, at the age of 60 go from summet to base in one shot at Mt Tremblant.

I want to send you guys $ in appreciation. What's the best way?

It's funny what you take for granted. I introduced my son to skiing recently and never showed him this. I just assumed it was common knowledge. Well let's just say that after asking him how he holds the poles, a behavior correction was in order. Now back to the slopes to practice more... Great videos.

Holding a pole with the strap risks serious thumb injuries. I attended many injuries on the ski patrol through people holding their poles in the manner described. Just hold onto your poles. Pole straps are only there to hang your poles up when not skiing.

Great videos. But do u think this video should be put in basic technique playlist? I was holding the pole wrong until I am an intermediate skiers lol

I injured my thumb in a fall while being strapped incorrectly. After that, I don't put the straps on at all.

I never put my hands through straps. In case of accident it can do serious damage to your wrists or arms. I'd rather lose my ski poles than my arms.

Let’s agree to agree: never use the straps from the skiiing poles, they are more dangerous than useful, please check other videos on this subject!

Don't do what this guy says. Don't put your thumb around the strap like that. THAT is how you get skiers thumb. My mother had to wear a brace for the rest of her life because of a ski injury from using a pole like that. INSTEAD let the strap hang loose, and put your whole hand through it loosely (so the strap dangles loosely around your wrist), and grab the pole handle . The strap will remain loose. That way, if you eat it, you won't loose your poles, but you also won't injure your thumb. DO NOT grab the strap with your thumb.

Don't ever use the wrist band on a piste like that - only for offpiste. There has been a lot of broken hands because of the band

Just cut those straps off close to the grip. Straps are very dangerous and can mangle your thumb or worse. If you are silly enough to use straps, then you must learn when to NOT use them, such as when tree skiing when your poles could hand on a tree branch, yank your arm off, or cause you to hit a tree. They are NOT seat belts or safety straps. Most people have no idea how to use their poles correctly anyway. The only thing I’ve found them really good for is to hold them by the baskets and wind them up like baseball bats when those pesky snowboarders approach trying to make you into a slalom gate. Properly wound up and watching them approach will give them a lot more respect for your personal space.

Looking forward to new videos. I love your instructions.

That being said, I can't belive that there are actually people who can't figure out by themselves the best way to hold a ski pole!?

Unfortunately, I know Ski Instructors that don't know the proper way to hold ski poles.
