In the comments section of a few of our recent videos, we’ve been discussing the possibility of Dropbox $DBX getting bought out by a larger company.

As DBX continues to offer more and more diverse offerings for their users, further clarifying that they’re no longer just a cloud storage company, we’re starting to see how access to these features and the large 600M+ user base could have larger competitors licking their chops.

So today we take a quick look inside the DropBox Spaces 2.0 Beta, look at some of the options and discuss how this will continue to help DBX differentiate itself from the competition in cloud storage if they can continue to refine it into something that truly solidifies their teamwork ambitions.

Who do you think would be interested in buying DBX to beef up their portfolio?

I’m a Dropbox paid user...one thing that they could do to convert those smaller users would be to offer mid-priced, smaller storage option. You have either free or $120 a year, nothing in between. Perhaps their new target customer though isn’t the regular consumer but rather business customers.

Zacks just raised DBX to rank 1, been watching volume and size trades. Something is happening. Earnings in Feb. Well see! Had PINS 16 sold at 24. Made big mistake. Just like buying BRK Class A for 4400 in 87 sold 25 shares for 10k thought i made a killing. Now I'm crying.

I subscribed your channel, and I'm reviewing your videos about dropbox, here is your investment thesis on dropbox. I'm still not persuaded for now, Space 2.0 makes dropbox so special? is it going to change Dropbox's future? would it make dropbox profitable? I'm not so sure.

Definitely, guys like my self make stock price attractive for you to buy but.. We don't know how the future plays out, aren't we?
Keep going, I'm 100% sure you are doing great. Disagree or not, I'm enjoying your videos, thanks!!

Hi Tre, curious to see if anyone will acquire them also. Thanks for the honest analysis! Figured it would be someone trying to strengthen their CRM biz. SAP or Hubspot? I just got in today, figured w Hellosign and Spaces, the risk reward is low enough for me. If not sooner, I am expecting this to go up come Feb ER.

Hi Tre, love the videos! I am currently living in Japan as well as an expat, so I wanted to ask I some things. Which platform are you using for trading? I know there are many restrictions for expats, so it’s quite frustrating. Currently I use IBKR, but I’m open to hear any other ways. Thanks for any tips and advice!

I own Dropbox, bought at 19 USD, but I would be unhappy with a Microsoft or other shit building companies to buy. I think Dropbox can live alone much more flexible.

The more I think about it the more I see MSFT taking over DBX. This way MSFT keeps a rival from moving into the Cloud space and Teams space (Oracle) and allows MSFT to gain market share on AWS. MSFT gets this for only 9b + premium so 12-14B? Its fringe but don't count it out so easily.

I think people miss the boat on DBX with it's Hello Sign offering

A more in-depth look on what you currently like and dislike about Dropbox spaces 2.0 beta would be greatly appreciated

Oracle or ServiceNow is the rumors. I can see Oracle doing it just because they have been trying to bite at Microsoft but I do like Dropbox as a bet for taking market share in the cloud storage for small businesses.

Good review !! Personally, I'm not too impressed with spaces 2.0, BUT... it certainly looks like Dropbox finally wants to do more than just mere commoditized storage and that's a good sign. Personally I feel that they need to go in the direction of Slack, offering more interaction between their users. This may allow them to convert more non-payers to become payers. Also, it'll make them more attractive for an acquisition. I agree with you that it's unclear who can be interested in buying them out. SalesForce did well to get Slack. It should be a company like SalesForce without much cloud presence and with some outdated user interfaces, not sure which is such a company, but this can be a potential profile of a company to want to acquire them. I wouldn't be sure that DBX should fancy itself up for acquisition. I think it'll be better for them to go after converting their non-payers into payers and improve their offering on their own. Either way, it's a very unique stock. It's underpriced, but there's a lot of hype around it which I'm not sure I fully get. They do need to improve their product, they can't allow it to remain some commodity type thing and they need to worry about converting these non-payers cause otherwise, they can't really afford losing paying customers to dwindle their payer base even more. What do you think of all this?

Sold some puts and bought stock and sold covered calls on what I bought. Nothing crazy because my cost average is about $19 and I don't really want to bring that up much. Approaching 10% of my portfolio. When they go up you never have enough, when they go down you always had too much... I like to collect dividends along way to pay down position because you never know.

I've been adding DBX since the Summer and I have built out my position now. Overall
l solid business and cash machine - high margins and high repeat retention/stickiness - Great valuation.
