The apprentice took it all on board. He's a keeper Charlie

He listens to everything Charlie said and applied it. An apprentice with interest and eager to learn makes teaching so much easier.

Fair play to mike! A year in doing it he seems very keen which is very good and rare nowadays! Don’t worry about the money for now gain the knowledge and the money will come and his work is also very neat for a year in apprentice

Mate - As soon as I saw this fella slinging his muck down the line, he is better than every single year 1 or year 2 apprentice or improver I've seen. Then taking on the pick and dip. Mustard for a year on the trowel and better than improvers 1 year in.

The advantage improvers have over apprentices is they get to see probably 20+ bricklayers techniques and the pluses and minuses before deciding on whats good and if they were a good hoddy they will have the ear and teachings of said bricklayer that they served once they have pulled out the trowel.

Also the fella had the confidence to put the camera hat on as well. I see promise here no doubt, which is why Charlie saw something and was showing his technique and thought process throughout. This short video is paramount to the difference in confidence and application for the 1st year trainee brickys.

Thumbs up.

Just passed my CSCS test last week and studied bricklaying in college . I left college in 2021 but had to take care of my mum. It’s a nightmare mate where I’m based no one is looking for apprentices and they just don’t seem interested in teaching people in my area

I am not a brick layer, but people think it is a semi skilled job, but to do it well and fast their is a lot skill and thought. My Grand Father trained as a brick layer but did not finish his apprentice ship because of the First World War, so he only worked as a labourer. But he worked with a brickie and did all the hard bits, like brick arches where you could rub the bricks to get good joints, keep going mate.
