I was an Ohio state worker and retired at age 67 in 2014 on PERS. However, my husband passed away in 2000, age 52.
While working in 2013 was able to collect SS from my husband but the minute I retired, husbands social security stopped because of my PERS. It's been 25 years since my husbands death and have struggled. I am still working a little part time job at the age of 77 to help get a few extras!

Thank you so much! My wife, a retired teacher, only receives $55.00 a month of her earned SS benefits after paying for Part B of Medicare. I am also a retired educator and only receive half of the SS benefits I earned. This will make a huge difference in our retirements.

Thank God!! When I retired I needed 4 more years to reach the required 30yrs of substantial earning per the WEP. I trust that it will pass the Senate and no one else has to be negatively affected. Kudos and God Bless get weary in well
