Facage (The Insane 1950s Country-Western Version)

Facage, a combination of the words "Facade" and "Mirage." Although the rhetoric is necessary to ensure that everyone is deserving of the most basic of human decency and courtesy, actions that are often undertaken in the 12AM shadows of perceived Saturday night obscurity tend to unfortunately prove otherwise. I only hope to use this song as a catalyst to help change this seedier aspect of our community... or at least raise awareness of the hypocrisy on a very wide scale. This is a slightly different version with slightly different lyrics that was given a vastly different makeover for two reasons: 1.) Its more closely aligned with my preferred musical tastes, and 2.) I actually think that the juxtaposition makes this song sound even more hilarious and irreverent (to say nothing of the cover I made with Photoshop,) than the original. Anywho, enjoy!

Prompts (Udio):

Create a 1950s rockabilly-style song with a sound reminiscent of early Elvis Presley or Carl Perkins, featuring a singing style similar to Charley Pride. The instrumental should be lively with twangy guitars, upright bass, and a steady, driving beat typical of rockabilly music. The chorus should feature male vocal harmonies to create a rich, dynamic sound.

Lyrics:

[Verse 1]

They march in the name of love, banners high in the air,

Preaching peace and unity, for anyone who cares,

But when you look a little closer, what’s behind the parade?

It’s a facage of inclusion, only welcoming their own shade.

[Chorus]

Mirror image, what do you see?

Fighting for freedom, but not for me,

Is this the love that you shout so loud?

A facage hiding in a different crowd.

[Verse 2]

In the clubs and on the streets, they say it’s all okay,

But if you don’t fit their script, you’re better off away,

They claim they’re open, but the doors have locks,

It’s a facage of acceptance, sometimes feels like a paradox.

[Chorus]

Mirror image, what do you see?

Fighting for freedom, but not for me,

Is this the love that you shout so loud?

A facage hiding in a different crowd.

[Bridge]

Oh, we’re all just human, or so they say,

But why do some feel pushed away?

In your fight for liberation, don’t forget the rest,

Or you’ll become the very thing you detest.

[Pre-Chorus]

They’ll even vote for someone who says “strangle the fags,”

As long as it’s with our rainbow flag,

Does the end justify the means,

When the truth is buried in the facage of your dreams?

[Final Chorus]

Mirror image, what do you see?

Fighting for freedom, but not for me,

Is this the love that you shout so loud?

A facage hiding in a different crowd.

[Outro]

Mirror image, what do you see?
