A well-crafted cocktail is something that will completely change your outlook on life. I was at a restaurant the other day and I asked the waitress to surprise with me a cocktail. This is something I do quite often, honestly. I was at a wine bar where they have a huge selection of wines and liquors and I wanted to see what their specialty cocktail was. I was not prepared for what she brought me. When she came to the table, she placed in front of me a pineapple and Malibu (coconut rum) drink. The funny thing is that college-age Stacy would have drank that drink happily. In fact, that exact drink was one of a few drinks that I would drink regularly when we went out.
But 30-something year old Stacy couldn't imagine drinking something so sugary sweet. I learned a long time ago that sugary sweet is great in desserts, but not necessarily in my cocktails (they give me a headache). Isn't it funny how your tastebuds change over time and what you loved at once is now not even on your radar?
So it inspired me to get shakin' and create a cocktail that fits me now. That's where this grapefruit paloma fizz comes in. It's got tart grapefruit balanced with simple syrup and light foam on top that's sure to please. It's a great cocktail that definitely has a 'wow' factor!
