WELP! You were wrong...December 1 and they made first deliveries yesterday. AND they met that 500 miles range too!

After much delay, the Tesla Semi began delivery of production vehicles today (1 December 2022.) Non-stop 500 mile range, even fully loaded to 82, 000 lbs GVW. Not an estimate - a production Tesla Semi just made this run from Fremont CA to San Diego CA without charging, on the road with traffic, over the mountains (~4, 000 feet climb) and through stop and go traffic in LA. Tesla also introduce a "V4" charger for the truck. Charger and truck are a 1, 000 volt system, and the charger can deliver 1 megawatt. V4 megawatt capable charger will be coming for future Tesla cars as well. No announcement today about where and when the V4 chargers will be deployed.

The engineering and testing, not to mention installing charging stations required took years. Note it had to be certified as a class 8. I am not surprised it took so long.

Delivery event is over. Truck is even better than I expected. 1000V battery system. The 500 mile 81000 gross weight test was on public roads with real hills. 8 hour uncut vid on youtube. Uses the plaid motors. Cruises on 1 motor and kicks the other 2 in when you need the power. Drove Donner pass full load using only regen braking. Cold brakes at the bottom. All good news. They really knocked this one out of the park.

The initial batch of 500 mile range semis have a price of $180K and 300 mile version has a price of $150K
The order book is closed and when it reopens the prices will be higher.

Why make this video a few days before the announcement? You should post a follow up now…

Here in the UK the government has already stated that EV vehicles will soon be subject to and annual tax for using the roads (similar to everything else). You can bet that the charging costs will soon rise in line with petrol and diesel. It has to replace revenue somehow.

PepsiCo and Frito Lay both have Tesla Semis as of today. They were delivered 2 hrs ago.

How many miles untill battery needs to be replaced? My uncle had a 2004 Freightliner with over 850000 and it still ran and drove.

Like to see them work in cold winters of Wyoming...

I am not a big Tesla fan, but to be fair supply chain shortages have been horrific for the past 2-3 years, and they still are still a big problem. I work in the medical imaging field for over 30 years and I have never seen things this bad. Not only on new order delays, we also have many service customers with multimillion dollar systems at major hospitals down for months because we cannot get replacement parts for repairs. Before 2-3 years ago situations like that were practically unheard of, now it is not that unusual. I also see supply issues with lots of things, so when he says it was delayed because of supply chain issues, it is not so hard to believe.
Also, part of leadership is to set ambitious goals for others to strive towards, so again... You just have to take future estimates with a grain of salt, perhaps more than just a grain. So with his very ambitious forecasting and unprecedented supply chain issues I would not call these long delays a scam.

wow maybe if the competition didnt design their trucks like walls, maybe they'd be more efficient lmao

Scotty check out Texas based Hyliion, they already have trucks on the road, and they have the ability for retrofitting.

However this all works out, I still love the sound of that big turbo kicking in.

The bus company I drive for tried to switch to hybrid electric buses, but they gave up when they found out it costs the price of a brand new bus to replace the battery. They switched to CNG instead.
