My only question: why TF can't they build the pit some 10m longer?? Because I always see world-class athletes nearly jumping to the edge of the pit and it frightens me they could hurt their knees falling on the edge. Or is there a standard regulation that long jump pits have to be in a certain length?? Somebody who has knowledge about track& field can clear my doubt

The problem with LJ is that gathering speed, you have to keep a careful eye not to go over the board.

I had such high hopes for him. He could have become the new Usain Bolt for the triple jump. But then he disappeared. Tentoglou is very good and consistent, but I don't see him jumping over 8, 80m anytime soon

He could have gone farther. There was no more sand to land in forward. The pit needs some additional 1 or 2 meters😊😊😊

So :
- yes that's a pretty long jump
- no, pits' lengths arent standardised
- no, you can not move the jumping mark away from the pit cause this is pretty much the only standardised length
- so yes, the solution is to build longer pits, but that costs money and some stadiums don't expect elite athletes to come in their city until they do.
(And no, you won't lengthen a pit after it's built 😇)
