Thank you Jeff for all that you do for the Community (tradesman/woman and DIY’er)!
I’m a 54 yo single mom and I have (since the onset of COVID)
1. replaced my old fence with a board on board fence w/ top cap
2. Put in artificial grass/turf in my backyard
3. Help to build a customized shed in my sideYard
4. Put in my Ring Flood Cams + Doorbell
5. Assembled an 10’ x 12’ Cedar Gazebo AND stained it.
6. Built shelves and mounted them w/ my Kreg pocket hole Jig
7. Renovated my 420 sqft garage
* (epoxied my floor - prep work was brutal (used angle grinder- no acid etching to clean and make floor even) as well as sealed cracks
* also has friend put up sheet rock to create ceiling w/ recessed lights and ceiling fan. He textured and we painted all the walls.
* I built custom shelves as well as step - all stained
* mounted 60” tv on wall
* still a few pieces of art to put up …. But looks really nice!
8. Now in the process of stripping, Re coloring, and sealing my colored stamped concrete in the my front of my house.

I’ve watched a lot of your videos as well as a few other YouTube influencers … but mostly yours! You are totally awesome!
Thank you! Thank you!
From a dedicated fan of yours in the Bay Area (Northern Cali)….. Andrina

I have multiple university degrees. Left everything behind once wife became pregnant, realized both parents working is a disaster, went to trade school in Ontario for my gas license, now going to obtain the G1 gas license, open limit. And have my HVAC license, immediately opened my own business. THIS WAS all done two years ago lol. Talk about trades being amazing now days!

28:00 I'm from Indiana. Our state has a grant program (I think it's called Next Level Jobs) that will pay for students to go a university or trade school and pays for classes to receive a certificate (1 year degree). The student does have to major in a qualifying trade or skilled job. My son decided to go to a small university and live on campus. He also stayed for the second year to receive an associates degree (2 year degree) in welding. The boarding and second year weren't paid for so he did have to use his savings and pull out some student loans that totaled about $6500. He graduated in May and got a welding job within a month or so of graduating. He's already paid half his student loan debt off. He lives with us and pays us a small amount in rent so that he can focus on paying off all his student loan debt first before moving out. I'm very proud and happy for him.

You are the first Canadian I’ve heard addressing the skilled trades shortage. Thank you! My son is planning a career in the building trades. I will get him to listen to this episode soon!

I retired in October, but I'm not a guy that can sit still. Started a handyman business, originally charged 75.00 hr then bumped it to 100.00 and the market will allow more. Medicare puts a limit on how much you can make and honestly I have as much work as I can take on until I reach full retirement age in 6mo.

I took a Community College class in Cooling. 5 months. There was a second in heating, did not take that. One class 3 times a week. Got exposed to welding and Electric. Two or three more class and you could be doing a lot in a year.

Jeff id just like to say thank you. Im a master automotive technician in Mississippi. The comment you made about being a brother to me if you scrub the grit and grime from your hands at the end of each day. Really resonated with me. We are all in this together. Tradesmen and woman are getting really hard to find. We really do all need to take care of each other and keep this world turning. I watch all of your video's and use them to hone skills. You are a true badass sir and im happy to call you a brother.

Definitely agree with you about being your own boss in the trades 100% however it takes minimum 5 years to become a licensed electrician in Ontario & 3 years after that to get your masters to start your own business. In total 8 years minimum in Ontario & every province pretty much has the same framework in place. If i was 18 years old out of school, I would recommend get into framing & start a business as soon as possible. Electrical is a great & rewarding if you can make it to the point of running your own business legally, but 8 years is a long time to get to that point.

A good teacher when learning a trade is also important. If your consistent you can can master your craft, the big bucks will come and you’ll be dependable because your really good at what you do because you were consistent to develop your skills..whatever trade that might be

I framed custom houses for 10 years. Throughout the 10 years, I have taught myself many different things. Now my wife and I have started our own company doing renovations and repair work, but are scared we are going to get too big too fast for me to do the work. We haven't tried any marketing but have a facebook page and are trying to figure out where to start.

Roofing is hard on the body. Most roofers I’ve known can’t shingle beyond 40 give or take a few years. The heavy lifting, the elements, the platform, the ladder work. It’s a young man’s game

Hey Jeff, Thanks for all the videos and knowledge you share. My husband and I are loyal watchers and are finally becoming members.
We are a trades family and own a small masonry company in Ayr, On. And it was so cool to hear that the tri-cities was your old stomping ground.
Wish we could have caught this live video as we would have chimed in on the subject, but we appreciate you bringing attention to the need for trades people.
We definitely share in your opinions and often laugh out loud at your anecdotes. We always take away inspiration, solutions, and ideas for either our own diy or business, so keep killing it, Jeff. You sincerely deserve it!

P.s we'd love to meet you for drink sometime 😊
