The ZR2 is what the trail boss should’ve been. And the ZR2 shoulda taken that and improved on it by adding 35’s, wide body, and adding a supercharged V8.

As part of a multi generation Chevy truck family, being a Chevy fan is like cheering for the sports team that always looses. You think Chevy would learn from the Blazer. Why would Chevy think this is going to compete with the Raptor or TRX? Less power, smaller tires, and looks about like a regular Silverado.

Calling it the "flow tie" is the most innovative thing Chevy has come up with in years.

as unfortunate as it is, general motors knows exactly what they did when building this truck. this truck isn’t meant to steal buyers away from the raptor and trx. it’s built entirely for one market, the chevy dude who refuses to switch brands. this truck didn’t costs gm anything to design, it’s all just recycled. meant for a single buyer, not meant to be a truck worth buying

Fun fact: Chevy's build partner on this vehicle, Multimatic, is an extremely impressive company and built the RUF CTR3, the Ford GT, the Aston Martin One 77 and the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

One quirk / feature I’d love to see is what the interiors look like at night - ambient lighting, etc. I drive a lot in the dark and it’s nice to have some interior soft lighting.

Chevy has just been missing the target lately... Little to no attention for the Camaro, a lackluster Blazer return, and the new Silverado ZR2. The LT4 is the perfect engine for this application, but apparently not.

Wow It looks like…

Any other Silverado with black rims and big tires and bigger price tag.

Here in Southern Wisconsin, brand loyalty still means a lot. There will be plenty of Chevy lovers in this area, and in the Midwest in general, who will plop down the bucks for the muscular ZR2.

It really sucks being a GM guy right now, GM is totally abandoning enthusiasts (a market they've been known for since inception). The electric stuff is nice, but no one can afford it or really wants it. Camaro is a great platform, has wonderful driving dynamics and actually, a well-speced one has a nice interior (better if not on par with Mustang which no one realizes because all you see are 1LT 2.0T cars). No one would know that though because they are do busy marketing the boring XT5 (which has 0 style and is not even close to a GLE or comparable German car). Don't even get me started on why the Traverse even still exists. Blazer should have been a Bronco, current Blazer should have been an equinox. The only GMs knocking it out of the park are C8 and full size SUVs ie. Escalade, Escalade V, Yukon, and Tahoe. The current Silverado update should have come out in 2019 when they got a redesign instead, we got a half assed interior that was both simultaneously uglier and lower quality than the previous one. 3 generation family and frankly none of their new products are resonating with me, suppose all the development money got dumped into Ultium.

The only way Chevy can be okay with producing this, is shooting for more of a Pro-4X / TRD Pro type customer and not a Raptor/TRX customer.

12 years later and this is the best Chevy can do, what a letdown. Doug is completely right about GM being asleep at the wheel.

Just remember, every trim level of 4x4 Ram 1500 has the same size tires as Chevy's "offroader." But it doesn't matter, these will sell like nuts because Full Size Truck people are insanely loyal to their brand, 90% of people who will buy this truck don't care how it compares to a raptor, they just care that it is a Chevy "offroad" truck.

I’d buy the ZR2 for its electronic locking front and rear axles over any of the other features. Off Roading lockers are a game changer.

I like the look and the capabilities as a daily hauler than the Raptor or TRX. That'd be why I'd buy this truck.

It’s basically a trail boss with the 6.2 in it and a 70k price tag

The price is going to kill this truck. Having a front locker is amazing and its the only full size truck that has one. If the price was about 10k less like Doug said this truck could have some serious overland potential, especially if AEV gets involved like they did on the Colorado ZR2 Bison.

They could do a ZR2 SS with a supercharged V8 with 650hp from the Camaro ZL1

It’s amazing because even the TRD Pro Tundra has more power with the iForce Max. I’d go for that in a heartbeat

You mention the wide body look not being as cool, but I love the sleeker look and slight convenience you gain from the more standard shaped truck. Low profile but super capable, super cool!
