I’m amazed at how everything’s in such good condition considering being buried for best part of 80 years. Can only guess the grounds full of clay and has shielded it from decay possibly. Great video!

That clay sure did preserve the items you excavated. You do very good work and are passion and very methodical in the process.

I worked on the island of Guadalcanal about 10 years ago. I found everything from pistols, bayonets, helmets, water canteens, Japanese spectacles, exploded mortars, machine guns including a Thompson, revolvers, US dog tags, US tank, P-38 Lightning and a US trench knife with brass knuckles and 5 notches on the handle. All you need is a metal detector.

Thank you for taking the trouble to film all of this; it's fascinating!

Neat, I had one of those K98 bayonets, intact, in its metal scabbard, recovered from Normandy, 82. It was stolen from a locked DCC desk at work in 95.

This is so awesome, notice how the mud and clay prevented all of the wear and corrosion.

Well done for digging in the conditions they would have lived and fought in. That dig for me would have been amazing and upsetting at the same time.

Digging in old trenches and foxholes seems like a good way to dig up old munitions and live rounds, as illustrated in this video.

As a German, I naturally also ask myself the question of the fate of the people who once owned these things. Even though they had no business in this country, I somehow feel sorry for them! 😔

my grandfather fought in the 4th Romanian army, in the south of Stalingrad, he was seriously wounded, but he survived, he lived until 1988.
