Welcome to the Letterman YouTube Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate — but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

I went to Hollywood for the first time not long after this aired; the one celebrity I saw was. . . Florence Henderson, filming a commercial at Universal Studios, so Dave was on the mark here (and RIP to the lovely and talented Ms. Henderson).

There was a few times where Biff Henderson was looking for "celebrities" around New York. Among others, he managed to find Liza Minnelli, Don Rickles, Ryan Seacrest, Weird Al Yankovic, and Lennox Lewis, among others. Those were some interesting segments.

Florence Henderson became legend when she did the opening scene in "Shakes the Clown". Great sense of humor, and classy lady.
Almost as funny as Mrs. Cleaver's appearance in, "Airplane!"!!

By the time Florence came to the door to ask her "husband, " I was choking with laughter. Damned reflux, but magnificent Florence. What a great gag.

This routine would not be funny if performed by anybody else. Thank you so much!

Hah, always love Dave's "organic", honest, Midwestern commentary. "Hey look. It's Siskel and Evert." Hahaha, I love when he plays the dumb guy!

Notice how all late night hosts are basically non paid publicists for celebrity’s now. You don’t get true conversations just lapdog jokes and games …..Letterman was amazing at bringing out actual spontaneous comedy ❤
