Top 40 Mods that Really Enhance Minecraft! [Vanilla+ 1.16.5]

Hey guys, here’s a look at 40 mods which I think massively improve Minecraft, and fall into the Vanilla+ category of mods which don’t make dramatic changes to the game. This is for Forge 1.16.5, but quite a few of these have Fabric versions too, which I’ve included in the Google file.

I know this pack might be on the extreme side for Vanilla+, so it's more like an enhanced version of Minecraft. It's probably one of my final ones of 1.16.5 anyway, who knows!

Because of the amount of links, they won’t all fit in the description with timestamps, so I’ve had to place them into a separate file which you can find below. There’s a 5000 character description limit, so it was either links or timestamps!

Until CurseForge approves it, you can download the ZIP file and insert it manually into the CurseForge app. Pressing the link below will automatically download a small ZIP file. Open the CurseForge app, click "+ Create Custom Profile" in the top right, then press the import button and select my ZIP, then you can just play once it's installed the mods, and disable some etc. I'll remove this once it's approved.

The pack is still in the approval process, apparently CurseForge won't accept any packs that contain Vanilla+ in the title so it's under review again 🤷‍♂️. But I've put a workaround in the description for those who know how to use the CurseForge app.

An important thing I would like to tell everyone is to choose Biome mods with caution as they are usually incompatible with other mods adding new structures or mobs. Usually there's a config to change spawning biomes (that's what modpack makers do) but that's quite a lot of work.
Instead you can choose mods that enhance vanilla biomes rather than those adding new biomes.

I had an idea for a Vanilla mod: messenger pigeons. With this datapack you can tame pigeons with bread and breed them but only once you've made a pigeon house. These mobs carry scrolls and items long distances; you set their target destination with a something and they will fly to that destination and always return like a homeing pigeon. I think it would a slight new dynamique to the game. It would might not be all that useful but I'm sure anyone else in these comments could help me build on this skeleton of an idea. It would be best in multiplayer worlds etc. They might spend their days snoozing in their hut, following you around with cute cooing noises or riding on the backs of other mobs.

I really love you approach to things like this video. Even telling you long-time viewers that this video doesn't have a lot of new mods to not "waste" their time is one of many small things which are just a bit different (and better) than other channels. Keep it up!

One mod I would like to add to this list is the enderite mod
It feels very much vanilla and though is a little over powered as it won't die from the void, it is very resource expensive, thus making it a little balanced

I'd also recommend if you are using Mrcrayfish Furniture and Biomes O plenty there's an addon MrCrayfish made for furniture using other modded blocks, while there is also addons for quark trees to be compatible with dynamic trees and such. Great vid. :)
