Hema Commission: Report Reveals Shocking Stories Of Harassment In Malayalam Cinema

Much-awaited Hema Commission report published, shocking harassment cases revealed. On August 19, Kerala government published the Hema Commission report on the Malayalam film industry. According to the commission, there is ongoing sexual harassment in Malayalam cinema with many women alleging unwanted advances even before starting work. Furthermore, the commission stated that those in charge of casting often approach women first or if the woman initiates, she is told she must 'adjust' and 'compromise'. The report claimed that women in the Malayalam industry are frequently asked to be available for 'sex on demand'. The commission was formed in 2017 after the much controversial assault case of actor Dileep and includes ex-High Court judge Justice Hema, veteran actor Sharada, and retired IAS officer KB Valsala Kumari
