How much would you pay to avoid a recession? In other words, can we place a price on the economic costs of business cycle fluctuations? Standard economic models give some clues but they bring difficulties. Can we account for the known difficulties with these models, or is it yet more complicated?

In the real world, might government policy have already acted to reduce the costs of fluctuations?

Fine, but ignores the far more central and generally persistent Kuznet cycle which is actually the land price cycle. Recessions which follow these peaks are on average twice as damaging as ones during the cycle.

Smaller Mid cycles also tend to occur around year 7 of the 14 year upswing in land values, so 2019 would be the most likely year, though the exact ramifications of the Asian cycle downturn are yet to be felt.
