Wanted to double check as I notice many US english speakers saying things like "had went" rather than "had gone" and it really seems pervasive in the culture and it would be so interesting to see how such changes happen and become so ingrained. Thanks for explaining things simply and we'll! 👏👏

I know a guy who says: I should have went. I tell him it should be " have gone". He is from Detroit and he doesn't like to be corrected. Maybe it is city speech.
