I'll consider taking it apart since I got the 64Gb model and replace it with a 512Gb or 1Tb SSD, but only when I fill up my Micro SD Cards.

Valve said "Don't do it", I interpreted "Do what you want"

Valve should definitely release that bracket as a file to be 3D printed.

Deck is one of the most exciting things in gaming happening lately. There is real hype behind it.
I wish VR took off like I hoped it would, but I think that adoption will move slower then I expected.

Very well put together just like all of your previous videos. Keep up the good work and congrats on 3k!

I will not be opening my SD. It must work out of the box without much tinkering for me to play.

Now years later if I feel I need to replace something, I will do it.

I am buying the expensive version because I am not really a tinkerer. But I am super happy Valve are really showing and not just telling their audience that they want to support this as much as they have!
By the way since you're taking questions I have to ask what games you are most excited to try out first on the deck?

And I really do wonder how many people watching this that have/had a steam controller, link, machine, etc.
I'd be interesting to see a poll as I have two steam controllers which is partly why I am so hyped for just the control scheme itself!

Will definitely be opening mine and replacing the storage first thing. By the time I get to the front of the queue, the community will have the ideal tear down method figured out.

Since I got the 512 version I'm not gonna open the deck for quite some time unless I need to repair a part.
I knew in such small space the nvme would not be easy to swap, plus I wanted that edged screen. So I went ahead for the high end version.

If the screws are anything like the switch joycon controllers, they will be stripped by even the lightest of pressure. I'd recommend buying new screws if you ever open the deck.

A lot of people could be concerned about trying to use the trackpads for many games. As someone who has use the steam controller a bit, I can totally see how they can be used with no real issue, but it might be an idea to do a vid on how the touchpads on the controller work as that is what the deck will be based on (albeit heavily updated)

I wonder if the shields on the drive are removable to be reused on a replacement drive, hopefully they didn't glues them down, or we will have to wait for a manufacturer to provide similar protected drive for the deck.

I'll probably be opening my Deck after about 1-2 years to thoroughly clean and maybe repaste the cooling system, to do the same after 3-4 years along with replacing the battery if I can.
I'm not afraid to open it but won't unless I have reason for it, similarly to my laptop.

Yet another great video. I love how you find and put all the information together nicely in your videos. I keep learning new stuff even though I check steam deck reddit everyday. It's like deep web material XD. Keep up the good work cause I'll be watching all of them for sure.

I really have been enjoying the open book nature that Valve has been doing with the Steam Deck and their opening up the Deck video was a great example of this. Telling people that it is their property is so refreshing in the industry. I also can't wait to see the torture test video that we got a glimpse of.

I’ve never been more glad that I reserved the 512gb version as I’m scared to open it

PS: great video as always 👍🏽
